Xavier Bettel, the Prime Minister of Luxembourg, deliberately insulted our Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, during a press conference on Monday.

He first refused to move the joint press conference with Mr Johnson indoors to prevent the British PM being 'drowned out' by a noisy pro-EU protest.

When Boris Johnson declined to take part due to the rowdiness of the pro-EU protestors, and left the podium, Xavier Bettel then hijacked the press conference in a petty move to deliver a bizarre anti-Brexit rant, criticising the PM in his absence.

We hereby demand that Xavier Bettel, as the Prime Minister of a nation that owes a great debt to Britain for our help when it was occupied by Nazis in the Second World War, apologise unreservedly for what was nothing less than a calculated insult, not only to Boris Johnson but also to the people of Great Britain.

Xavier Bettel, Prime Minister of Luxembourg</p> <p>It has been reported that you delivered a calculated insult to Prime Minister Boris Johnson during what was supposed to have been a joint press conference in Luxembourg on Monday 16 September.</p> <p>Not only did you decline to move the venue of the press conference when it became obvious that Boris Johnson's words would be drowned out by a noisy protest taking place in the same location, but...</p> <p>...you then took advantage of our Prime Minister's absence to deliver a speech of your own that was highly critical of Brexit generally, and in particular Boris Johnson's role in the process of delivering the democratic will of 17.4 million people here in Britain.</p> <p>This kind of petty behaviour and political grandstanding is unacceptable from the Prime Minister of a European country that is supposed to be an ally of ours.</p> <p>It is even more unacceptable when one takes into consideration the assistance given to Luxembourg by Britain in the past , especially when your country was occupied by the Nazis during the Second World War. </p> <p>I hereby demand that you apologise unreservedly to Prime Minister Boris Johnson and the people of Great Britain for the offence that you have caused.</p> <p>I look forward to hearing from you at the earliest opportunity.</p><p id="sign_off" class="mceNonEditable">
